HST Bounce Problem I
have an 88 Hydrosteam HST, I’m running a 96 Venom around 275hp
10inch jackplate with the bullet lined up even with the bottom of hull.
Problem is when its almost tweek, it wants to start bouncing and can’t
hold a steady speed. I’ve run choppers & a Hoss. Could the weight of
the engine be causing this problem? I’m stumped... Greg
Payton Greg, Lower
the motor 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch to carry the boat better. The boat will
run over 100 with the gearcase centerline below the bottom, but if it
cannot carry the boat, it will never happen. A good sign is if you have a
pretty good amount of steering torque on the wheel. Go lower until it is
only a minor pull and the boat will take a set and the rest will happen by
itself.
Please submit whatever questions you have to IHRTechTalk@yahoo.com. All questions and answers selected will be displayed on this page as they come in. Note: though all boaters are welcome, priority may be given to I.H.R. members. Randy can not be held responsible for any advice given. Though his information and expertise is second to none, he has no control over what you do with your boat. It is up to you to boat safely and act responsibly, and his advice is only to be used as a guidance for your high performance boat/motor of which you are the one responsible for the risks involved. Thanks,
