Mazco Prop for Valero YT Randy, I saw your
post regarding the Mazco RE 26 or 28 prop. I have a RE 28 that I
recently bent up and had reworked. With this prop (before I
bent it up) the prior owner had the boat over 100. It comes out of
the hole pretty slow (did when I test drove the boat before buying it).
Would a RE 29 or 30 help get out of the hole better without sacrificing to
much on top end. For the
time being, I am content in the 70s to high 80's. Until I get
more seat time with the boat. Thanks,
Steve: Sounds
like this prop got screwed up somehow before the major damage happened.
I do not think the 29 or 30 would be better out of the hole, I think they
would be worse. Top end would be relatively the same, just the RPM
would be different. At this point, I would suggest sending the prop
back to Mazco to have it repaired back to the original spec. If you
want to, you can send it to me, I would measure it and look at it and give
you my opinion. It may just be something simple. Hard to say
without seeing it, but I would think the problem would be obvious as the
28's are usually very good out of the hole. Either way, I think your
28 could be repaired to run 100 again.
