Varmint Seat Pedestal

I have an 83 Varmint, and I wish to remove the front seat post. I tried twisting it out but there doesn't seem to be any threads. Is it molded in? I don't want to screw anything up so I thought I would ask.

The varmint used a standard pedestal like Ranger and the like. The steering post is probably frozen in the base. Use penetrating oil and a lot of force. You can unscrew the base and possibly press it out. Sometimes they just have to be replaced as they just "weld" themselves together. It is just a male/female fit with no threads, etc.
