Prop for Vector/Merc
Inline 150
Randy,
Hi,
what prop do you recommend for this boat/motor combo? 1979 Vector with 1978 inline 150 Merc. I
have no modifications, everything is stock. I have no jack plate or
setback. The boat will be used to ski and joy ride across a fairly calm
sheltered fresh water bay. I would like to have some low end
snap and maximize top end, and also keep the rpm's reasonable at
wot. This is a classic motor, its racing days are behind it, if you know
what I mean. What is the recommended max RPM for this engine, and what do
you feel I should see on the speedo with your recommended prop? Also can
you possibly include model numbers on the prop you suggest? Thanks Randy-

Bill,
The
prop I would look for is a 24 in line chopper. Since they have not made
one in over 10 years, used is the only way to get one. New props would be
a 22 pitch Laser II or 24 pitch Laser II. Not as much fun as the chopper,
but pretty good nonetheless.
