Sportmaster Gearcase for Vegas Hi Randy I have a 87 Vegas XT and recently blew up my 200 black max and
I am researching buying a new 2001 2.5 efi ss and my question is from my
research they seem to all come with the sportmaster gearcase and I was
wondering if this would be a good gearcase to run on this boat? I am
running a 6" powerlift jack plate any opinion you may have on this
would be appreciated thanks Brent
Brent:
The sportmaster will work good on the Vegas. The setback is right also,
but if the rig is setup for the 20" motor, you may find putting the
SS 15" on will be difficult unless the plate is moved down 2 inches,
possibly 3. Otherwise you may have to run it all the way down all the
time. A prop in the 26 pitch range should get you to the mid 7000 rpm you
will want to run the 2.5 at.
