Ventura Setup

I bought a 74 Ventura last year and after much restoration work it’s looking pretty good. I put a 2003 Merc 125 with a 9 inch manual jack plate. And setup with cavitation plate set approx 2" above bottom. The prop is a 19 pitch aluminum.   I am planning on getting a stainless but do not know what prop to get. When up to speed it only hit about 40 and motor was rocking. Was this due to the aluminum prop and what kind of speeds can I expect. I really appreciate the help and plan to join IHR. Also motor max rpm is 5200 , And I probably don't want to spend more than 400.00 on a prop.

A 20 or 22 Laser II would be a good start. The rocking was probably the rubber mounts flexing. I do not know of anybody that makes solid or rigid mounts for that engine. Your set up sounds fine. A Laser should pick up the boat better and give you some more top end.
