Viper Capacity Plate I have a '78 15' Viper that has the Coast Guard Capacity
Plate missing. I don't want to get busted by the IL DNR for not
having one. It was removed by my speed freak dad that used to
own the boat when he had a 200hp Merc. on it (92mph) and added some gauges
and lost it. Do you know how I can get a replacement or even a copy
of one from another boat you have contact with, just so I have something
to show the DNR. I would truly appreciate the info. and help. Unfortunately
you are “S.O.L.” on the plate. The DNR can use the length x width (in
feet) x 2 – 90 formula. 15’ x 7.2 ft x2 – 90 for a 126 hp rating
according to US Coast Guard guidelines.
Please submit whatever questions you have to IHRTechTalk@yahoo.com. All questions and answers selected will be displayed on this page as they come in. Note: though all boaters are welcome, priority may be given to I.H.R. members. Randy can not be held responsible for any advice given. Though his information and expertise is second to none, he has no control over what you do with your boat. It is up to you to boat safely and act responsibly, and his advice is only to be used as a guidance for your high performance boat/motor of which you are the one responsible for the risks involved. Thanks,
