Viper Questions How ya doing, my Viper is new to me, well about 2 years ago. I have been rebuilding her for that amount of time. I have a 1985 80 hp Merc and 4" set back with jacking capabilities. What is the proper set up? What prop, how high, water pressure reading? I am kinda new at this. Please help. No one around here can seem to tell me enough or the correct way. Thanks Jeff Carter
Jeff, Keep
the motor no much higher than an inch or so above the transom. Try a
22" Lazer II prop and you should see 50 mph or so. With the limited
power you need, the motor deep and with the 2.33 to 1 gear ratio, the 22
should work good. Water pressure varies depending on where you get the
reading. 10 psi or so is desirable.
