V-King Transom Dear
Randy, Thanks
a bunch for helping me setup my Vector comp, but now I have found a 1986 V-King
with a stock 2.5litre 200 merc carb. motor. Man I love this boat the
Vector is way faster but no fun in the lake waves. OK, my question
is has anyone replaced a transom on a V-King and done a write up on it or
have any tips. My V-King seeps water through the bolt holes and my
buddy drilled under the bolts and he said the wood was a little soft.
The wood was dry and the transom feels solid but the bolt holes have been
leaking. Also where is a good place to get solid motor mounts and a
duel steering setup. You
will have to cut into it behind the fuel tank and assess the scope of the
job. The nice thing about fiberglass is that no matter what you mess up,
you can repair it. Dig into it, you may find a big project. If the transom
is soft, it will make its way to the balsa core in the bottom – not
good. Take a look.
