Voo-doo Steering 1990 VooDoo with omc triple, wicked steering
torque with P/S 4 inches below pad. Installing a jack plate to raise to
1.5 below, but this will probably make it worse. Is the new Bay Star hyd.
system safe for this application?
Rolf, The
steering torque thing has me baffled. If the motor pulls or will make
a left turn then you are too low on the transom. If it turns right or
pulls that direction, then you’re too high. If that's the case I'd say
the prop is messed up as at 4 inches below you should have no torque. Do
not, I repeat do not, put hydraulic steering in it. Lets try to fix the
problem as excessive torque is speed that's there just not found yet. The
hydro steering will mask the problem. Try raising the motor but if that
doesn't work then let me know your prop and which way the torque is. There
has got to be a simple thing that is missing here and a lot of speed is
for the asking. Waiting
for the results,
